In this Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course, you’ll learn how to recognise and understand common mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use, and eating disorders. You’ll also be able to spot signs of a mental health crisis, such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm, panic attacks, or trauma. The course will guide you through key risk factors and the best evidence-based treatments available. Most importantly, you’ll gain practical skills to confidently support your colleagues and employees using the MHFA Action Plan, known as ALGEE.

The nationally recognised Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation is valid for 3 years. However, we also conduct refresher training courses each year. Check our website regularly as these refresher training courses are offered several times a year.

The College encourages MHFA Training across seniority, departments and genders to ensure diversity of support. This course is for all lawyers and non-legal staff working within a legal environment.

However, all attendees are required to complete the six-hour online (eLearning) component before attending the first virtual workshop to ensure you have the foundational knowledge necessary for the interactive sessions.

Yes, all of our Mental Health First Aid Instructors have completed the intensive instructor training course and are licensed by MHFA Australia to facilitate their training course, the blended training course for legal professionals and the refresher course.  As legal professionals, our instructors also understand the unique challenges of a career in the law.

 

The instructor-led virtual sessions are live meetings conducted over the internet using video conferencing software. The instructor needs to see and hear you for you to participate. Therefore, you must have access to a device with a camera and microphone.

Yes, MHFA training can be provided in-house at your firm. Contact us to coordinate every detail, from enrollment to completion. The course can be delivered on-site at your office or at our campuses in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney.
